Banteay Kdei, meaning – a Citadel of Chambers, is a Buddist temple in Angkor, Cambodia, and easily my favourite temple.
I visited this temple at nine on a Monday morning with almost no other visitors. It started to rain, which to me, added great atmosphere.
For me the charm and beauty of this temple is the jungle surrounding the largely unrestored buildings.
This temple was built using an inferior grade of sandstone and using poor construction techniques, leading to much of the deterioration visible today.
